Day one - Wednesday 24th
After registrations the new members have been welcomed by EfVET President, Mr. Peter Hodgson.

Many
new EfVET members from Lithuania, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Cyprus,
Denmark, United Kingdome, The Netherlands had the opportunity to get
introduced, in an informal meeting, with EfVET activities at policy level as well as in terms of networking opportunities.
Day two - Thursday 25th
Mr Peter Hodgson, EfVET President, opened the 16th
Annual International EfVET Conference by introducing the theme and
explaining why vocational education and training (VET) plays a
strategic role in Europe’s search for excellence and inclusion.
The first
conference keynote speaker was Mr. Gilles Langio, Director of Training
Centre for Apprentices from Indre-et-Loire. The presentation has been
focused on the analysis of the French apprenticeship schemes. Starting
from the evolution of the system over the past 30 years, Mr. Gilles
Langio has shared with experience on what has been identified as
today’s challenges.
Mr.
Jean-Marc Roirant, President of the EUCIS Civil Society Platform for
LLL explained how EfVET and its members can contribute to the European
debate on vocational education and training. Mr. Jean-Marc Roirant
reminded that as being an EfVET member, the conference delegates are
also member of EUCIS and via the research activities, the working
groups, the consultation processes VET practitioners have the
opportunity to make their voice heard by the European Commissioners.

After the keynote speeches a more interactive session, based on the opportunity to choose among 5 different workshops.

Day three - Friday 26th
The
third conference day started with the AGM (Annual General Meeting). The
debate has been focused on 2007 activities and the action plan for
2008. President Peter Hodgson, together with members of the Executive Committee have chaired this session.
After
the AGM Mr. Paul Brennan, Vice President of the Association of Canadian
Community Colleges (ACCC) gave a key note speech on the challenges and
strategies of the VET providers in Canada. Paul Brennan contribution to
the conference have been focused on establishing partnerships with
EfVET and its individual members in the field of mobility for promoting
study abroad and work placements of students within the framework of
the EU-Canada programme.
Roundtables
After
a short refreshment break the conference gave the opportunity to all
delegates to share experiences, good practices and project results by a
number of roundtable presentations.

This
tradition, which is recognized a very enriching moment of the
conference provide members to get to know each other work and establish
partnerships for future cooperation.
Charalambos Vrasidas, from CARDET, Centre for the Advancement of
Research & Development in Educational Technology, has presented the
challenges and recent trends in introducing new technologies into
educational contexts.

Day four - Saturday 27th
The
last day conference, after a fruitful discussion among EfVET members on
future activities and direct involvement of members in the
organisation’s activities, the Past President Hans Van Aalst draw the
conclusions of the conference.

Finally, Rasa Zygmantaite, EfVET National Representative for Lithuania
presented the solutions adopted for the next 17th Annual International
EfVET Conference, which will take place in Vilnius.
