EU High-Level Conference: “Skills – A Basis for Increasing Competitiveness and Employability”
The Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU and Croatian Ministry of Labour and Pension System will organise a conference to encourage discussion on increasing access to lifelong learning and on developing and improving skills to increase the productivity of those who are employed and the employability of those who are unemployed.
The conference will focus on the importance of skills in the context of strengthening competiveness of workforce and economy of the European Union given the challenges emerging from new industries and rapid technological developments. Representatives of EU institutions, Member States’ governments, social partners and business sector will discuss the necessity of skills forecasting and planning for boosting growth and increasing employability.
In this context, the Conference will explore the models for providing continuous training, upskilling and reskilling and their funding sources, notably European Social Fund. Skills acquisition must be made sustainable, inclusive and accessible to as many unemployed and unemployed as possible, but also to companies that have limited resources to implement skills programs.
