Online Social Innovation Dialogues organised by the Universitat de les Illes Balears and Esment

The Universitat de les Illes Balears and Esment, with the collaboration of “la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank, through their Social Action and as part of the Social Innovation Chair, are organising a series of dialogues on Social Innovation. The talks aim to stimulate an interest in understanding changes in the environment and provide insight into social problems.

These dialogues act as a preamble to the Master in Social Innovation, which will begin in early 2021. This is a pioneering initiative on the islands, a degree created by the Universitat de les Illes Balears (60 ECTS) which aims to train students from different disciplines to understand the reality that surrounds us and its social uncertainties, and to propose creative solutions that will benefit the common good.

Two tools will be combined to achieve these goals: different methodologies will be used to generate innovation, while students will also be presented with successful case studies to familiarise them with the experiences of social organisations using innovative approaches.
The training will be both online and in person to make it more compatible with work and to enable the different levels of learning to be covered: individual, as a team and via a project.

For the first dialogue, on Thursday, June 25th, from 17:00 to 19:00, we have Cormac Russell, Director of Nurture and Development and an expert in projects that include community-driven social change and TEDxExeter speaker, and Simon Duffy, Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform and an expert in the deinstitutionalisation and autonomy of people in need of support.
