The role of employer organisations in apprenticeships – EAfA

The next EAfA webinar next EAfA webinar on Wednesday 25 November that will discuss the role of employer organisations in apprenticeships.

The webinar will be opened by Chiara Riondino, European Commission, who will share some insights on the importance of social partners for apprenticeships and their valuable contribution to EAfA network. Experts Robert Plummer, BusinessEurope, and Liliane Volozinskis, SMEunited, will provide an overview of their networks and activities to foster apprenticeships.

Furthermore, national employer organisations from Germany, Latvia, Denmark and France, will also join to present national initiatives to promote and foster apprenticeships and showcase examples of social partner involvement in different stages of apprenticeships. National speakers include:

Liga Mengelsone, Director General of Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK). She is representing interests of employers in the dialogue with Latvian Saeima, government, trade unions, regional partners both at the national and EU level. Liga is a board member of Latvian women entrepreneurs and higher-level managers association “LĪDERE”, and practise coaching by giving advice related to marketing and business development.

Andrea Oel-Brettschneider, Head of Unit “Internal market and Construction” in the European Policy Department of the German Representation of Skilled Crafts and SMEs (ZDH). One of her tasks is also the management of the Brussels Office of the German Construction Federation (ZDB). Since 2019, she is representing the interests of German construction companies at European level and as such involved in the ERASMUS+ project “Skills Blueprint for the construction Industry”, a sector alliance of the  “Blueprint for sectoral cooperation on skills” addressing skills gaps.

Anja Trier Wang, Senior Adviser at the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI). She worked as vocational education and training expert in DI since 2002, dealing with national and European VET developments and reforms from an industry perspective. Since 2008, she is a member of the EU Commission Advisory Group on the European Qualification Framework.

François Falise is an expert consultant on organisation, governance and financing matters of the French vocational training system. Since 2017, he is also a Technical Advisor in vocational training at the CPME providing support in discussions and negotiations with the French Government, social partners, and professional branches at the national level. He also advises different parties to facilitate the understanding and implementation of the 2018’s vocational training reform in France.

As usual, the presentations will be followed by a Q&A session where EAfA members will get a chance to ask questions directly to the speakers.
